The Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) is organized by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB) utilizing the UP Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) channel for purposes of certification for teaching roles in Uttar Pradesh. The UPTET will be taken on January 29 and 30, 2026. The UPTET serves as a certification for two levels of teaching roles: primary positions (Paper I) and upper primary positions (Paper II). The provisional answer keys for all paper sets will be released shortly after the conclusion of the exam, allowing candidates to self-assess their performance and make objections if need be.

While no restrictions exist on age to sit the UPTET, candidates must satisfy the minimum age of 18 years.
Reserved category candidates are entitled to relaxations in marks under government norms or rules.
Candidates enrolled as final-year students in teacher training courses are also allowed to apply on a provisional basis.
Selection process for UPTET 2025
Written Examination – Objective-type test in two papers:
Paper 1: For Teacher’s Primary Level (Classes 1-5)
Paper 2: For Teacher’s Upper Primary Level (Classes 6-8)
Qualifying Marks –
General – 60% – 90 Marks out of 150
SC/ST/OBC/PH – 55% – 82 Marks out of 150
UPTET Certificate – For successful candidates. Issued for life.
Recruitment of Teachers – Candidates can apply separately for teaching jobs in Uttar Pradesh schools on the basis of their UPTET certificate.

It is made up of Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other allowances specific to the state.
